Authentic Italian Lasagna 🇮🇹🔥 recipe ⬇️
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb Italian sausage
2 tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
1/3 cup carrots, diced
1/3 cup celery, diced
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp tomato paste
1/4 cup dry red wine
24 oz tomato puree (passata)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp black pepper
Basil + Parmesan rind
In a large pot, sauté onion, carrot & celery in olive oil over medium heat. Once softened, add fresh garlic and mix for a minute. Add in ground beef & Italian sausage. Once browned, incorporate tomato paste and cook down for a few minutes. Deglaze with red wine and reduce. Pour in tomato puree. Season and add basil & Parmesan rind. Simmer for 20 min until reduced and thickened.
Bechamel
4 tbsp butter
4 tbsp flour
3 cups whole milk, warm
Salt & pepper to taste
Pinch of nutmeg
In a small saucepan, melt butter and incorporate flour. Whisk for a few minutes. Slowly add warmed milk until thick and creamy. Season and set aside.
20 lasagna sheets
16-20 oz mozzarella, freshly shredded
3/4 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly shredded
Layer lasagna in this order — meat, noodles, meat, bechamel, mozzarella and parm. Repeat until you reach the top with an extra generous layer of cheese in the last layer.
Bake covered at 375F for 40 min. Uncovered for 20 min. Broil for 1-2 minutes.
