Sweet potato never tasted this goooood~ 🍠🫶🏻
(reposting this because the audio in my original one got deleted 🥲)
Is it just me or has everyone's feed been swamped with Japan food content recently?? I've seen so many reels of this shop selling sweet potato creme brulee in Tokyo, and so many crackles and slurps and 'ooh's and 'aah's over it that the fomo in me made me make this dessert in my own kitchen. 👨🏻🍳
And I have zero regrets. None.
Because when it comes to the effort:taste ratio, this dessert is firmly in the easy-to-make, super-rewarding-to-eat camp. Okay fine you kinda need a blowtorch to get that brulee, but besides that this is truly an S-tier dessert. And if you, like me, don't live in Japan, you should make it at home! 🙌🏻
Here's what you'll need:
4 sweet potatoes, baked at 160°C for 45 minutes
2 egg yolks
25g (2 tbsp) sugar
80ml (⅓ cup) milk
120ml (½ cup) heavy cream
3ml (½ tsp) vanilla extract, optional
60g (4-5 tbsp) sugar, for the brulee
